By registering and using startiq.app, you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully.

1. Operator and Scope

These Terms of Use apply to the use of the web application startiq.app (hereinafter "Service"), operated by:

2. Description of the Service

The Service provides a personal, browser-based start page with the following features: management of links and categories, sticky notes, focus timer (Pomodoro), weather widget, search functions, optional Google Calendar integration including email reminders, as well as security features such as two-factor authentication (via email or authenticator app), login notifications and login log. The Service is intended for private individuals for personal use.

3. Registration and Account

Registration is required to use the Service. You agree to:

Provide truthful and complete information during registration
Keep your access credentials (email, password) confidential and not share them with third parties
Notify the operator immediately if you suspect that third parties have gained unauthorised access to your account
Be responsible for all activities that take place through your account

One account per person is permitted. Registration of accounts for third parties or for automated purposes is not permitted. The Service is not specifically directed at persons under the age of 16.

4. Permitted Use

The Service is primarily intended for personal use. In particular, it is prohibited to:

Use the Service for illegal purposes or store content that violates applicable law
Misuse, overload or manipulate the Service or the underlying infrastructure
Carry out automated access (bots, scrapers) without explicit permission
Circumvent or investigate security mechanisms of the Service
Store content that infringes the rights of third parties (in particular copyrights)

5. Content and Data

All content you create in the Service (links, notes, settings) remains your property. You grant the operator only the technically necessary right to store and process this data for the purpose of providing the Service.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that the content you store does not infringe the rights of third parties and is compatible with applicable law.

6. Third-Party Integrations

6.1 Google Integration

The optional linking with a Google account and the use of Google Calendar is on a voluntary basis. The Google Terms of Service also apply to the use of these features. The link can be removed at any time.

6.2 Email Communication

The Service sends transactional emails via the provider Resend (e.g. verification codes, security notifications, calendar reminders). By using the Service, you agree to receive these technically necessary emails. No marketing emails are sent.

7. Availability

The operator strives for the highest possible availability of the Service but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Maintenance work, technical disruptions or force majeure may lead to temporary interruptions. The operator reserves the right to modify, restrict, or discontinue the Service at any time.

8. Limitation of Liability

The operator is not liable for:

Data loss caused by technical disruptions, force majeure or user error
Damage caused by the use or non-use of the Service, provided there is no intent or gross negligence
Content and availability of linked external websites
Damage caused by unauthorised third-party access to your account, provided you have fulfilled your duty of care

Liability for intent and gross negligence remains unaffected.

It is recommended to regularly back up important data.

9. Termination and Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, all your data (account, links, notes, settings, OAuth connections) will be irrevocably and completely removed.

The operator reserves the right to block or delete accounts that violate these Terms of Use, in particular in cases of abusive use or violations of applicable law.

10. Changes to the Terms of Use

The operator reserves the right to adapt these Terms of Use at any time. Registered users will be informed of significant changes. Continued use of the Service after the changes come into effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Use are subject to Swiss law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms of Use is Reinach BL, Switzerland, unless a mandatory statutory place of jurisdiction applies.
